University Health Care Plus (UHCP) was created in 1999 to support the education, research and teaching missions of the University of Utah. By selecting UHCP, employees help keep the funds the University spends to provide health care benefits "in the family."
Summary of Medical Benefits
University Health Care Plus is managed by the University Hospital with over 10,500 members. We have taken strides to make this plan more user-friendly. In an effort to offer world class service University Health Care Plus has eliminated the mandatory use of referrals to see a specialist and does not require members to choose a Primary Care Provider.
- Emergency services are covered whenever and wherever you need them at the in-network benefit level
- Local Provider Network of 14 hospitals, 14 urgent care centers, and over 1750 physicians
- 100% facility coverage for inpatient hospitalization at the University of Utah Hospital
- Nation-wide coverage through the Multi Plan Provider Network (www.multiplan.com): this includes over 4,200 acute-care hospitals, 84,000 other hospitals and ancillaries, 400,000 individual practitioners.
- A primary care physician (PCP) and/or a referral to see a specialist are not required.
- U Baby Care Program - work with RN Case Managers to help reach positive outcomes with your pregnancy...$100 incentive for women who enroll before their 13th week of pregnancy.
- Case Management - a service for members who may have a medical condition that requires the coordination of services involving multiple health care providers

- Online EOB's (explanation of benefits) - view your claims online and print at your convenience for your records. EOB's are also mailed to your home monthly.
